Marit & Thijs got married on a hot summer afternoon in Het Heerenhuys in Rotterdam, one of the most romantic estates in the Netherlands with French-style garden and a stunning view. Their family and friends gathered for a romantic and warm celebration.

It all started from their first anniversary. Marit gave Thijs this customized wooden postcard as a present, with words in Dutch “today is my dearest day”. Later that day, Thijs gave her the jewelry set and asked her to marry him. Instead of a traditional engagement ring, he opted for a set of lovely pearl ring, necklace and bracelet and popped the question. Both of them planned it on their own and Marit certainly didn’t expect such a big surprise ahead of her. Talk about “the dearest day”!
They had the ceremony outdoor in the garden of Dudok in Het Park, using the park and the river as a perfect backdrop. Both fathers of Thijs and Marit had important roles on the day. Father of Marit was the officiant for the civil ceremony and father of Thijs was the paster for the religious ceremony.
