RONDA TRAVEL GUIDE

White buildings on the cliffs are a signature view of Ronda. Built over the canyon of El Tajo, Ronda has a rich history dating back to the Moorish era. We were fascinated by the charming town as well as the nature surrounding the area. With many hiking trails nearby, It’s a destination that you can easily stay for a week.

Top 5 viewpoints in Ronda:

- Puente Nuevo

- Aldehuela viewpoint

- Murallas de Ronda

- La Hoya Del Tajo viewpoint

- Virgen de la Cabeza Trail

We stayed in the center of the new town; although not as close as the old town to all the viewpoints, we had the luxury of watching the sun rising against Sierra de Grazalema mountains from the comfort of the balcony.

HIKING IN ANDALUSIA

We spent a day hiking in Sierra de Grazalema national park, down the canyon famously known as Ermita de la Garganta Verde (the green throat route). The name comes from the lush vegetation that covers the canyon’s high and vertical walls. This narrow canyon is one of the most impressive natural settings in the entire province.

The trail took us about 3 hours roundtrip. Not too difficult for us, although it’s recommended to go with proper shoes and grear. The nearest town is Zahara de la Sierra, where a mandatory hiking permit can be acquired.

SEVILLE TRAVEL GUIDE

There are so many places to visit and restaurants to try in Seville. I’ve been there 5 times so far and still am fascinated by this beautiful city. Perhaps the most well-known spot these days is the Alcázar Palace, where several important scenes from “Game of Thrones” were shot at. My favorite place, though, is “the most beautiful square in the world” Plaza Espana. It’s so grand and full of fascinating details - the huge half-circle complex and 4 bridges made out of blue ceramics.

I was so lucky to experience Semana Santa de Sevilla once, the holy week festival in southern Spain. Seville was the center of the festival, where thousands of people gather and march towards the cathedral with celebrations.

GRANADA TRAVEL GUIDE

Granada is another must-visit city in southern Spain. The Moorish influence is probably the strongest here in the whole Andalusia region, from the fascinating Islamic architecture to Arab-flavored street life. Two of the most special highlights include the majestic Alhambra Palace and countless tapas bars in town, which serve tapas for free when you order a drink.

At least 3 days are recommended - 1 day for the Alhambra Palace, 1 day for the Albaicín district, and 1 day for taking the time to enjoy the countless tapas bars in the city.

Top 7 must-see spots in Granada:

- Alhambra Palace

- Ermita de San Miguel Alto (best place to see Alhambra from afar)

- San Nicolas viewpoint (best sunset place)

- Albaicín district (medieval Arabic quarter with picturesque narrow streets and simple whitewashed houses)

- Sacromonte district (the gypsy quarter with colorful houses)

- Hammam Al Ándalus (traditional Arab bath)

- La Alcaicería (Arab spice market)
